Georgina, Lake Staz, Engadin, 2003
Set against the awe inspiring landscape of Switzerland, Comte cheekily riffs on femininity’s long-held connection with nature. Posing his model in wellington boots to highlight her nudity and physicality, this is a humorous yet beautiful subversion of these conventions. Lake Staz would play an important role in Comte’s work from the late 1990s, as his work began to move into expressions of landscape and nature.
